However it’s not just about 1 Million Indians, who aspire to go to the US. But it is about all those who will be trying to opt for a US visa in the coming months. They stated- “We will not stop here. And continue our progress in coming months…to give as many Indian applicants the opportunity to travel to the United States.”

They are doing this by approving more bodies in various places like Hyderabad and other big cities. By doing this they will be making sure that more people can work on this.

“In the past year, the Mission has expanded its staffing to facilitate more visa processing than ever before. The Mission has made significant capital improvements to existing facilities, such as the U.S. Consulate in Chennai, and has inaugurated a new Consulate building in Hyderabad,” a statement from the US Embassy said. They said they have changed their system and are working smarter and harder in order to process the large number of visas rotting as the dead backlog. while also ensuring that the newer once get approved as soon as possible.

Numbers and Surpassing Goals: These steps are just a step forward towards the future. They made a record of approving 90,000 visas to Indian students in the summer of 2023 and added to this number during the June -August session. And this one was so successful that one in four student visas that got approved was Indian.

If we note the global figure for the year 2023. More than 125,000 student visas of Indians were approved for the US. And this number was more than any other nationality. This also established one of the strongest travel relationships in the world. The number saw a 20% hike if we compare it with the 2029 data. “Indians now represent over 10% of all visa applicants worldwide, including 20% of all student visa applicants and 65% of all H&L-category (employment) visa applicants. The United States welcomes this growth,” a statement from them said.

oking Forward: This has not only offered opportunities for Indian students in the US but it also shows that India and US are in a good relationship. This was clearly stated by the US Ambassador,

“Our partnership with India is one of the United States’ most important bilateral relationships and in fact one of the most important relationships in the world…. The ties between our people are stronger than ever, and we will continue our record-setting volume of visa work in the coming months to give as many Indian applicants as possible the opportunity to travel to the United States and experience the U.S.-India friendship firsthand”

Further, this year they have planned to implement a pilot program that will enable domestic visa renewal. This program will be for the qualified H&L category employment visa applicants.
